THE MAORI DISTURBANCE.

[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.J NAPIER, March 26. Mrs Donnelly and seven other Natives were summoned to appear at the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day in connection with the trouble at Omahui The charge was one of forcible entry, on an information laid by W. Broughton. None of the Natives appeared. The_r counsel, Mr P. S. McLean, explained that they all came down to appear in Court, but a messenger arrived to say that one of the Broughtons had shot a dog belonging to Mrs Donnelly's shepherd, who was trying to stop her sheep being mustered by Broughtoh's people. Trouble was feared, and as the men summoned were all chiefs of in* fluence, he advised peace. It was, after some discussion, resolved to adjourn the cases for a month, provided both sides appear before Captain Preece, R.M.. tomorrow morning and undertake to withdraw their forces from the contested territory.
