The yield of wheat ia the colony, although not expanding so rapidly as in Victoria and South Australia, has increased 168 per cent, during the past ten years, while the population has only advanced 70 per cent. It is expected that with a like steady increase the colony in a few years will be able to supply her own requirements. Complete statistics are not ready yet for publication, those furnished being only a forecast of the official report. This year's crop is the smallest since 1871. It ia calculated ! that the drought will entail a loss of £900,000.
