LODGE MEETING.

The regular monthly meeting of the Bobert Barns Lodge, 604 S.C., took place at the St. Augustine Hall, Christchurch, on Tuesday, January 15th. Lodge opened at 7.30 p.m. There was a fair attendance of members and visitors, including several P.M.'s, and considerable interest was manifested in the business of the evening, which consisted in two E. A.s being passed to F.C. degree, which was performed by R.W.M. Bro. W. F. McLean for the first time in a very creditable manner. An application for charity from Lodge Si. John, Invercargill,was favorably received, and two candidates proposed for initiation. After hearty good wishes from those present, the Lodge was closed in due and ancient form at 9.30 p.m. The brethren then adjourned to the supper room, where a pleasant hour was spent iv harmony. Last night the officers and brethren of the Excelsior, Oxford, and Kilwinning Lodges, under the banner of the Grand Lodge of England, R.A.0.8., paid au official visit to the Royal Jubilee Lodce, under the Surrey banner. Primo Gibbs was in the chair, with Primo T. Green as C.M. The brethren were most cordially received, and a vote of thanks for their visit entered on the minutes. During the evening some very excellent songs were given. Amongst others, Bro. R. Robinson, the City Minstrel of the Lodge, gave a very excellent exhibition of ventriloquism, besides presiding very ably at the piano. To-night an official visit will be paid to the City Lodge at the Wellington HoteL The monthly meeting.. of the Royal Standard Lodge, No. 61, Protestant Alliance, was held in the Methodist schoolroom, Addington, on Monday evening, a large number being present. The following Brothers were elected to fill the various offices during the ensuing term: — W.M., Bro. W. Daley; D.M., Bro. J. Inkster; Secretary, Bro. W. T. Burley; Treasurer, Bro. J. Campbell; A.S., Bro. J. Oates; S.E., Bro. A. Lusty; J.E., Bro. J. Harris; LG., Bro. S. G. Buckett; Chaplains. Bros. W. J. Cork and A. F. Brockett: Auditors, Bros. J. Bettle and H. Chapman. The Auditors' report on the financial condition of the Lodge was most favorable, the balance-sheet and quarterly returns showing very satisfactory progress, as also did the yearly returns, which the Secretary had prepared for transmission to the Grand Council in Sydney. Bros. Bultitude, W.M., Bowen, D.M., and W. J. Slone, D.D.M., of the Queen's Own Lodge were present, and congratulated the Lodge on the success of its past year's work, and wishing it even greater success during the coming year. The D.D.M. Bro. Slone duly installed the officers to their respective chairs, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his continued interest in the Lodge. Bro. W. T. Burley, P.M., was unanimously elected representative to attend the sittings ol the Grand Council to be held in Sydney in March. A hearty voie of thanks was passed to the visilng Brothers, after which the Lodge closed in the usual manner.
