Grand weather favored thia annual meeting upon the Racecourse Reserve at West Oxford. There was an improved attendance upon last year, about 600 being present; and better arrangements foreonveyance from the train to the course. Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin's totalisator was used on the ground. Under Mr Inspector Pender there was a number of police to prevent anything like conduct which the spielers gave way to at Hororata. Procrastination threw the «»«» of* 06 day all behind. In the Hack Hurdles, Waipapa should have won had he kept on his feetTbut he fell at the back and was then out of the race. Hector Norman was out of form, therefore Young Guy had an easy race for it. In the Maiden Plate, Wild Hawke, Bet 131b, and Young Guy at 9st 131b were scratched; the other five entered went for it. Waipapa, the favorite, realised the expectations by a length from Lucifer, Rex a close third. Mermaid and Sandfly also ran. ▲ protest by Mr Maddison against the winner not being a district horse and for crossing in the straight were both disallowed. The Cup event was an Indian file galop for three-quarters of a mile, Lavender, D'Orsay,, and Allana in order. The leader was challenged in the straight, and by good riding Derritt landed D'Orsay a winner by a short neck, the disappointment of many of the local backers of Lavender being very noticeable. For the District Trot, post entries, there were eight starters. This race, put down for 2J> p.m., started at three o'clock. This was won by Our Nag, Primrose second. The totalisator iniiMlini iiln were—Our Nag eight tickets, Primrose one and Bushman two. In the Wetter Handicap. Lavender, the popular horse, won after a struggle to throw off Loiter in the finish, during a close race, amid cheers. The Novel Race was a match Between Olivevic and Fickle, the former winning by a neck, the other horse having no say In the race. The race was half an hour late. After a false start Waipapa took up the running, but clipped on all her hurdles till reachIng fine back, where after negotiating the timber she fell, and was out of the hunt, Young Guy coming to the front won easily. Mermaid and Sandfly went away with a rush. At the hade Rex was going up when Waipapa cut in and was racing ■with Rex at the home torn. In the straight Lucifer shot in to second place, Waipapa winning by a length. Time, lmin 51sec Totalisator, 71-28. Dividend, £2 ss.

Allana took a slight lead, with Lavender next. Lavender, however, soon took np the race, and a procession—Lavender, DOrsay and Allana—was formed for three-quarters of a mile into the straight. From the start Olivevic, Tickle, Rattlesnake, and Sensation tailed away till the finish, when Fickle drew on Olivevic, winaingby a neck. Totalisator—7o—36; dividend, £1 15s. The winner was sold by auction by Mr Ingham for £11 10s to the owner.
