OXFORD AND SHEFFIELD SALES.
. The Osiord fortnightly sale, which has been aitered from Fridays to Thursdays, was Jield on Thursday last (the opening day of the alteration). There was a large attendance of farmers aud buyers from outside districts, showing that the alteration in date has proved acceptable. The yards were well tilled, and satisfactory prices obtained for all classes of stock. Fat sheep brought up to 9s 3d, cull merino wethers 3s 4d to 3s 6d, small cull merino ewes 4s. In cattle there was an unusually large entry. Yearlings brought up to 235, two-year-old steers 47s 6d, three-year-old steel's and heifers from £3 to £i, fat heifers from £3 to £3 7s 6d. In pigs there was a small entry. The prices obtained were very good, weaners bringing from 7s tolOsGa.
The Sheffield monthly sale, which is altered from the first Thursday in the month to the second Friday, was held on the day following the Oxford one. The attendance and entries fairly good. The prices obtained were on a par with those obtained at .Oxford. , .
