EAST CHRISTCHURCH.
The East Christchurch District; School Committee held their usual monthly meeting last; Thursday evening. Present—Mr J. T. Smith, chairman; Sevs. H. G. M. Watson and C. Dallaston, and Messrs Parkes and Pepperell. Apologies for the non-attendance of Messrs Sandetein and Williams were submitted. Mr Pepperell having forfeited his seat through nonattendance, was re-appointed a member of the Committee. A letter was read from the Headmaster in reference to Mr Collier's complaint against one of the teachers. It was decided to forward Mr-Collier a copy of Mr Scott's letter, with a request that ho will in future, first send any complaint he may have to make to the head master in writing. Miss Hamilton having received another appointment, it was resolved, on the re* commendation of Mr Scott, to request the Board of Education to promote Miss Guise to tbe vacancy, and to remove Miss Gilling to the infant school. Applications for the vacancy caused by the removal of Mr Robinson were received from the Board of Education. It was decided to recommend the Board to appoint C.B, Craddock, first assistant, and F. Evans as second assistant, the latter in place of Miss Gilling. The Committee in response to a circular from the Board of Education, nominated Messrs C. C. Bowen and W.H. Wynn-Williams as members. The Chairman reported that certain larrikins had levelled a portion of the fence at tbe South Town Belt side school on New Year's eve. The Secretary was Instructed to inform the Board of Education. Some repairs and improvements required at the Gloucester street swimming bath were referred to the Bath Committee with power to act. A letter was read from the Board of Education, stating certain pupil teachers had completed their course, and asking the Committee to release them accordingly, and to getareport from Mr Scott as to pupils appointments. The Secretary wa3 instructed to call tbe Board's attention to the necessity of replacing the gates, &c, to the main school playground. After passing some accounts tbe meeting ! adjourned.
