AUCKLAND NOTES.
[FROil OUK CORKKSPONDEXT.I ! October 30. The near approach of the Auckland Racing (Jlub'3 Spring meeting is pausing attention to be paid to the doings at Ellerslie in the mornings. Antelope is looking well and going well, and so is Tartar. Hilda promises to strip at her best on the day, and I think she will taka a lot of beating in the Guineas. Balista has made her appearance again on the track, and she looks none the worse for her unsuccessful trip. Nelson has performed several working gallops of late, and shows no signs of unsoundness, and his stable companion Raglan has put in a lot of good work. Patchwork and Teksum are also both going well. Peter Osbeck is being treated to useful work and the old fellow appears as fresh as a lark. Ma Petite Fille is a much improved mare and should go near winning the Spring Hurdle Race. Kangaroo, who was picked out as the best treated when the weights appeared, is under a cloud. The Leohnus colt, Sir Walter, is backward in condition, and so is Lochness, the two year old colt by Ingomar—Albatross. Major George's filly Fiesole by Ingoraar—Florence is doing the best work amone the two-year-olds ; she got over five furlongs on the tan in linin. SS sees a couple of mornings ago, having Raglan as a companion for the last part of the journey. Lady Norah has been taken up again and is in work and Clogs is receiving, I hear, her preparation on the Otahuhu course and is doing well. Mr W. Bloomfleld has signed an agreement to work the totalisator at the A.R.C. meetings. He is to receive 1 per cent, and fche fractions under 6d. Some severe stipulations are laid down in the agreement. The following foalings have tasen place at Sylvia Park:—Rangi a colt to Captivator, Maid of Honor a colt to Captivator, Ophelia a colt to Sword Dance, Bianca a filly to Captivator. Renga (dam of Cinderella) has foaled, but there seems to be some doubts as to whether Daniel O'Rourke or Herculaneum is entitled to the parentage. Betting here on the N.Z. Cup is only in small lines. Lochiel is backed at 3 to 1. There is a lot of wagering being done on the Melbourne Cup.
