[pBKSS ASSOCIATION TKfc'MiRAM.O AUCKLAND, Wovembex' 3. The case of the alleged lunatic ffeuwick is the subject of a private report to the Government. Some time ago Mr Justice Gillies had Fenwick brought before him on an application made on behalf of the wife to administer the eeto&e, owing to tho hueband being unable to manage hij affairs by reason of being of unsoand mind, and the Judge, after hearing the evidence, decided that Fenwick, though of unsound mind as regards some matters, waacapablu of managing his affairs. Itwould be uaiurally concluded that he had no right to bo an inmate of the Asylum, but no one will take the responsibility of releasing him, and c nsequently Fenwick has remained in theAaylum ever since. The Governiuont appointed Colonel Haultain to make epocial enquiries into the matter, and thie geitt'i -■ man's report haa been sent to Wellington. It is understood that he doea not recommend Feawick'e release.
