This morning Whakawai did a sixfurlongs' spin in 1.24; Bergyl and Firelock finished a mile together in lmin 53sec ; Lady Agnes covered half a mile in oitsec; bat beyond these there was nothing noticeable. The following is the present state of the betting market on the CAULFIKLD CUP. 100 to 8 agst Plutarch (taken and wanted) 100—8 Chicago aud Charmer (offered 100 — 5 To hdioue (wanted) 100 — 3 Master (wanted). Carbine and Melos are equal favorite s for the V.R.C. Derby at 100 to 30, Ensign and Lonsdale 100 to 6. An offer was made last night to take 1000 to 55 about Whakawai for the Melbourne Cup, but 1000 to 60 was the best that could be obtained. Invermay has Deen scratched for the CauLfleld Cup. Received October 11th, 1.15 a.nj. MELBOURNE, October 10. Victory is training at Caulfield, and has been doing good work the last few days. Pasha, Phaon, Lady Marion, The Gift, and Tradjtioi have arrived and taken up their quarters at Caulfield. Lonsdale has been scratched for the Caulfield Guineas.
