LAND BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of the Canterbury Crown Lands Board was held on Thursday. Present—Messrs J. H. Baker (Chief Commissioner), D. McMillan, and G L. Lee. SectionGl, 42Aa, reserve 1574, Hakateramea, was sold to A. E. Hardie at £2 per acre. Section 31, 543 a, reserve 1371, Geraldino district, was let on perpetual lease to J. D. Harr. The Chief Commissioner reported several sales by auction on the 27th September at South Rakaia townsiip. The following quarter-acre sections were sold at £7 10s each, 378, 379, 380. 381, to G. S. Hardie; 382, 383, 334, 355, 356, and 387, C. Tucker; 388 and 359, M. A. Gray ; 422, 424, and 426, A. Hardie; 430, 432, and 434, A. W. Hardy; 439. A. Oxlen; 622 and 624, J. Tanner; 672, E. Gray.^oose; sections 411, Iγ 12p, and 412, lr lip, were sold to W. Morten for £9 153 and £9 11s 3d each respectively. At Temuka, on September 28th, quarter-acre sections in the Arowhenua township were sold as under: —311, 312, 313, and 314, to P. O. Coira, 553 to T. F. Hopper, 579 and 580 to M. Melville, all at £7 10s each; 447, G. Gentlemun for £8. At Geraldine, sections 216 and 247, quarter-acre each, were sold to W. Henery at £7 10s. Section 695, quarteracre, at the Arowhenua village settlement, sold on deferred payment to H. Goodey. The Receiver or Land Revenue reported a number of run rents in arrear. The Board ordered the Insertion of a Gazette notice, stating that the runs would be forfeited if the rents were not fully paid in three months. The same officer reported deferred payment selectors and perpetual leaseholds in arrears, and the Board ordered steps to be taken for the immediate recovery of the amounts due. Reports were received from the Ranger of deferred payment settlements at Fairlie Creek, and village special settlements at Ashburton, Chertsey, Dromore, and Rakaia.
