HURUNUI RABBIT BOARD.
This Board held its usual monthly meet* ing in their office at Culverden, on Wednesday, the 3rd inst, all the members present, Mr G. W. Mußae in the chair. The Inspector's report showed that a considerable portion of the fence is nowerected. He produced a silver grey rabbit which had been killed on the Mount Palm estate, and had the Cheviot ear mark most unmistakeably. Decided—To insure the buildings of the Board against fire ; to accept the tenders of A. McDonald and L Barker for felling and clearing seventy and twency-flve chains respectively of the line of fence through the Ro«erson bush ; that notice be given to J. Pilcher that if he is not at work on his 'contract within seven days that his contract will be ca - celled, and the amounts due to him will be forfeited ; the Inspector to write to Messrs C. D. Fox and L. H. Lane, stating that the Board can make no allowance on the number of sheep on which they are rated. Mr J. D. Lance, M.H.R., attended towards the close of the meeting. He gave a description of the rabbit fence down South, which is completed, and which he carefully inspected. He found that a portion of the fence was on very rough country, and had been covered with snow in the winter months, but was not seriously damaged. It was found that the rabbits tried to burrow under the fence, but the sunken netting baulked them, and they gave it up. He is npw traversing the line of the Hurunui Rabbit Board's fence. .
