Rotorua, Captain R. Neville, arrived on Saturday morning at 9.15 o'clock, from Maxrokau and way ports. Mr Patereon {purser; reports:—Left Manukau at 1.15 p.ra. on 21st inst. and arrived at New Plymouth at 6.30 a.m. on the 28th inst. Left again at noon same day, called at Nelson and Picton and arrived at Wellington at 8 a.m. on 31st. Left again at 2.10 p.m. same day for Lytteltou, arriving as above. Experienced strong Southerly winds and heavy seas throughout the trip. She left for Wellington again at 9 p.m. From Kaikoura, the s.s. Jane Douglas Arrived on Saturday morning. At 1 pun. yesterday the s.s. Grafton arrived in Port from Dunedin via Timaru and Akaroa. Mr Reynolds, her purser, reports:—Left Dunedin on the 31st ultimo at 9 p.m~, and arrived at Timaru on the list Instant at 10.30 a.m. Left again at 7 pan., called at Akaroa, and arrived as .above. . Experienced moderate to fresh atortherly winds. The S.S." Akaroa arrived in Port from Akaroa on Saturday evening. Far London via the Bluu, the Colonial JJniou Company's s.s. Bayley steamed ftenceat 4.3opan. on Saturday. The barque Notero has been chartered by Messrs Kaye and Carter to load produce fot- Sydney. -=-For Brisbane direct the s.s. Fijian, under \ charter to Mr C W. Turner, steams hence to-taorrow. NJS. Shipping Company's 8.3T.5.5. £aapehu leaves for Wellington at 1 p.m. "to-day, where she completes her loading 'In this colony prior to steaming for London. . The ketch Reliance left the Thames for ■ this port last Thursday. ' The schooner Lily left Oamaru for Napier 05 the 30th inst. The Hauroto steamed for Dunedin Oα Saturday afternoon. She there takes In" part cargo of produce, and completes at $h« gailing thence to Melbourne. The ketch Ocean Bud arrived in port from Sumner early on Saturday morning. . From Wellington the ship Selene arrived Inport on Saturday night, and brought up off the eastern mole. She is in ballast to this port, and comes to load for London ca account of the New Zealand Shipping j Company. At 10 a.m. yesterday the s.s. Herald Kcrived from Greymouth. She tooksHelCer j Under Cape Campbell on Friday. -""■ •' n j The barque Rebecca was coming up the .harbor as our report left Lyttelton last x%ht. Many of our readers will regret to hear of the sudden death of Captain Thomas S. BeaL who "traded here as master of the., Panama, New Zealand and Australian Company's sjs. Ruahine in the olden days. At an inquest held at St. Bartholomew's Hospital on the body of Thomas S. Beal, -Sixty-eight, a commander in the service of < the New Zealand Royal Mail Company, residing at Firme Park road, Stroudgreen, Boxnsey, a laboring man named Patrick .Finan said on the Sth June he was in liverpool road, Islington, and saw the deceased get out of a tramcar. A van came along, and the deceased, in endeavoring to gab oat of the way of this vehicle, fell down sad broke his leg. Other evidence showed that the deceased* after to .by a doctor, was admitted 1 "Into the haspitaL Mr Farrar, house surgeon, said it was found that the man's was fcactured. He died from shock to the 'System. A verdict of "Accidental death" .was recorded. ' ' The S.S. Mana left Wellington on "Wedsesday night last for the stranded barque "Weathersneld, taking about a<o fathoms of wire hawser and one mushroom anchor, :Bsed in connection with the floating of the Ketone. Captain Holm will superintend the work of laying the Anchor.
