In the House of Representatives the Republican motion to omit imported raw, wools from the free list in the Tariff Bill was defeated by 120 to 102. It is proposed that the clause admitting wool free shall come into operation on the Ist of October. Received July 20th, 2 a.m. New York, July 18. * A careful canvas's of parties leads to the anticipation that tlie. American Tariff Bill will be carried by a majority Of 15.
