ROAD BOARDS.
HEATHCOTE.
This Board met on Thursday last at 3.45 p.m., the meeting on tffe sth inst. having lapsed fo» want of a quorum. Present —Messrs A. M. Ollivier<Chairman), R. Brown, R. Martindale, W. Beer, _. J. Palmer, and R. Allan. The Clerk reported that it was necessary to put a few yards of rubble on the west side of Colombo Bridge to prevent scouring. Ordered to be done. Also that the rates were coming in very slowly. It was decided to give notice that all rates unpaid wonld be. recovered on and after the 21st inst. by legal process, and the Clerk was instructed to carry this out. The receipts were reported to be £98 3s. Messrs Yeaitman and Boundey waited on**" the Board with reference to the price the Board •were charging for rubble at Rocky
point, it being so low that they were prevented from selling from their quarry, and objecting to the Board competing with other quarries. They were informed that the Board was only selling rubble they could not use for metal. The following correspondence was read and dealt "with :—Mr G. Mclntyre re concession to Company to construct tram line from Cemetery Junction to Christchurch. To be informed that the Board cannot alter the previous resolution. Corn Exchange. It was decided not to take a ticket this year. Railway Department, offering £30 if Board will repair and takeover drain in Heathcote Valley. To be referred to letter of Hon. E. Richardson, wherein the Government undertake torepair the drain and hand it over to the Board. Mr B. J. Lane re night soil; clerk to reply. Mr _. St routs re road to Convalescent Home. The Board havemo funds at present to do the work, but will cause enquiries to «c made as to cost, so that if possible something may bedoiie before the winter. Christchurch City Council stating that the tire engines will not go outside the city boundaries to tires after three months from date. Received. The Clerk was instructed to give Messrs Leonard and Flaveli notice that their fences encroached on the public road, and must be removed, otherwise the Board would do it. -^-» te J passing accounts for £2SS7s ld the Board aeljourned.
