The Shaw S.avill and Albion Company's \> like Star liner I)orii\ Captain Jennings, took her departure for Rio Janeiro and l-.ondon on Saturday afternoon, August 20th, with 5 saloon, II second saloon, and ID steerage, making a total of 38 passengers. Site also took away 29,000 carcases of mutton, .3500 sacks of oats, 2iX) cases of tish, and a fair amount of other cargo, [t is satisfactory to know that the quality of our West Coast, coal is so very excellent that the Doric, took away 1300 tons, so that she will require but very little in that line when she arrives at Rio Janeiro. Punctually at 4 p.m. the steamer's lines were cast oil', and she hove out to her anchor, which being weighed, she slowly steamed out of the harbor, clearing the moles a quarter of an hour later, ami having transhipped the pilot. Captain Ualbraith, she went ahead full speed on her long ocean voyage- The weather was very calm and the sea smooth, so that there was every indication that she would have a good run at the outset of her voyage. The Doric was drawing 25ft lOiu aft", and 20ft forward. The R.M.S.S. Knikoura, Capfc. Crutchley, started on her way to Wellington on August 20th, which port she left with the direct mail on the 2oth August, She had on board 10,275 carcases mutton, ]!)«>'s bales of wool and skins, 714 cases kauri gum, and a quantity of tallow, basils, leather, oheese, and other cargo. For Rio she has oO sacks oats, sacks potatoes, and 6 cases of cheese.

The Presto, barque, 354 tons, Capt. Laid man, sailed for Sydney on August 22ud, and the

Wild Wave, barque, 2:57 tons, Captain McArthur, sailed uu the same date for Sydney. The barque Otago, 90S tons. Captain Falconer, under charter to the New Zealand Shipping Company, sailed for London on September 2nd, with four passengers and a full general cargo of colonial produce.
