THE JANE DOUGLAS.
An addition to the locally-owned fleet of steamers has been made in the a.s. Jane Douglas. She has been purchased by Messrs Cuff and Graham for the Peninsula trade—a trade for which she has every requirement. The Jane Douglas is not altogether unknown here but a few facts concerning her will now be of interest. She is a very pretty model, a handy Teasel, and a first-class sea boat, while her steaming qualities are very good. She was built by R. S.SparrowandCo.,of Dunedin, in 1876, her length being 103 ft 7in, beam Iβ ft 2in, depth of hold 7ft 4in, giving her 76 tons net register. She has a roomy cabin aft, fitted with twelve berths, and amidships there is a well-appointed ladies' cabin, making up ten berths. She has entered into the trade, and has proved herself a very suitable boat.
