A NEW INDUSTRY. TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sxbl have noticed in your paper a clipping from the New Zealand Herald urging the importance of cultivation of perfume flowers for obtaining the oil. May I be permitted to ask through your columns if it would be practicable to grow the flowers in New Zealand and ship them Home in a dried state, or would it be necessary to have the oil extracted here. I notice with surprise and pleasure the very large amounts, as stated by the London Journal of Horticulture, accruing from the growing of these flowers. In such a climate as we possess I should think this new industry could be carried on successfully, and should we be able to get rid of all that we grow at remunerative prices, I feel assured a great future is in store for New Zealand, as in these depressed times it would be very gratifying to be able to grow something on the farm or small holding that would pay the grower. Hoping to hear more on this subject.—Yours, Ac., Agricola.
