DOINGS AT TIMARU.
[Bt Tbt.bqbj.pb_ (fbob otje cobbbspohdbbt.) TIM ABU, December 16. The flower Show to-day patted off very snccessfolly. There were mostly local competitors at the Show, which was held in—ieG—Tieoa Hall, found very suitable for auch aa exhibition. The annual cricket match between Timaru aad Christ's College wat played here to-day, aai resulted in a win f-r Timaru by three wickets. There wat an excellent wicket, but the waather was unfavorable. H-avy showers of rain fell, and a strong nor'-wester blew across the pitch. During the afternoon Chri.t'b College want to the wieknts first, but owing to the spls-did bowling of Godby aad Bit-welt only totalled 86. Perry IS, Jameson 15, and Cotterill not out 15, were the highest scores. In their first _—tings Timaru ran up 110, of which Bothwell made 38, Bryars 33, and A. Godby 13. Perry wat the most sucoesef ol bowler, taking six wickets for 31. The visitors in the second innings were all disposed of for 57. of whioh Beeves made 13 and Williams 13. The fielding of I im_ru waa too mu-h far them. Timaru then only wasted 31 to win, hut when they went to the wickets it wat a case of follow myleader, seven wickets falling for 11 runs Jameson aad Perry were bowling dead on, and it looked as it it was to be an easy win for the visitors t—l Lawrea«on and Bayza —id got together, when things began to wvar a -Ufferent aspect. These batsmen, by stonew-—ing and careful play, managed to make 'he required number, and thus saved their side.
