Oa the whole the Akaroa regatta of 1896 was one of the most aucceßtful ever held Tie residents generally, eapecially the Begat—- Committee, did their utmost to contribute to this result- The steamer left Akaroa about five o'clock, and arrived at Ljttelton at a few minutes before nine. ALU tne pa-sengers, excepting a few who took their pleasure tadlyon acconnt of mat de mer, declared thenisjvea delighted with the regatta and the excursion generally. On the steamer coming up the harbo.- fireworks wered-splayed.
