At noon yesterday a meeting of the Coascfl was held. Present—The MayorEket (Mr K. Moore), Cra. Blakeky, Humphrey*, May,Brightiag,Kidd,andStanton. The dectaratiott havicg been signed, Mc Moobji removed an ixpretsion that he had been asked to take effix for the
fosrUi time simply on the reqaest of the Council, as the requisition was largely signed by ratepayer?. The progrets of public works in the town credited to him wae mainlj, howerer, due to the basinets men who formed the Council. In conclusion, he referred to Tariou* local matters. _
Cr. BiUJczLBT, on beha'f of the Council, expre«*ed the pleasure which Conncillore had in beiag presided orer by the Mayor, and the great degree of hanzosy th*t bad existed in their dellbezatioiie. On the inritationof hia Worship, Conncillcas adjourned to Mr Bowdeas hotel, where a number of toaate were given, and snccesß to Kaiapoi was drank.
