LINCOLN.
Tho monthly meeting of this Board was held on Monday, 6th inst. All the members wero prost—_ A number of ratepayers interviewed the Board ro storm water, and requested that certain culverts bo enlarged, and in one case a bridge was asked lor. The deputation hoped the Board w v uldcompel persons to remove all gone trimmings ir _n the road ditches, as in tnauy instances this was brought intojthe drains by stormw_ter,and caused considerable damage to low lands by causing the drains t_ oveiflow. The Ch-irm-n informed the deputation that their grievances would be attended to as for as the Board's funds would admit. The Clerk was instructed to summon any person having gone trimmings in their ditches or obstructing the. free flow of the water in the drains. Correspondence was read from Mr Ha.lehunt, drawing the Board's attention tothe excessive valuation of parts of his property. Mr Hazlehurtt attended, and pointed out that be was assessed at noarly twice the amount that he had agreed to with tho Assessor. Mr Bazlehnrst was informed that tho Board could not alter tho valuation roll. He had had an opportunity of appealing at tho proper time, whioh he had neglected, 'lbs Board were quite satisfied that the valuation was excessive. From Messrs Joynt and Acton-Adams, threatening th* I Board with legal proceedings it their client, Mr P. Cunningham, suffers _ny loss from flood water. The Chairman had answered this letter, and read hia reply, which met with tbo Board's approval. From the Treasury, remitting to the Board's credit £—S 10s, balance of 1665 t>u.*ldy. From Mr Topbam, asking for a pipe culvert opposite the opening under the railway. Qrsnted couoittonaxly. From Dr. Priston, requesting the Board to enlarge tbo railway ditch from the 'Concrete culvert to the opening nt the railway. The Clerk to inform Dr. Priston that the cnlvert granted to Mr Top-—m was to obviate tbe necessity tor this being done. From Mr Monkhoase, drawing the Board's attentiou to tbe loose manner in which the contractors for oleo—ring the Hnlswell River have been permitted to perform the work. The Clerk won directed to communicate with the Ha—well Boad Board re same, and ask to be supplied with a copy of the specifications. From the Commissioner of Crown L nils, stating tbat tho Board's application for three acres oi Tramway Beserve for a clay pit was forwarded to Wellington to be gazetted, and he had recommended one acre of the same reserve at the gravel pit to be set aside. It was molted that the Commissioner be informed that one acre is not suiHoient, as half an acre is taken np by tbo old worked out pit. A petition was received from thirteen ratepayers, requesting that the cnlvert on the Bp—ug» road by Gallagher's be enlarged. Granted A circular from Mr W. Badger, offering to supply the Board with his Local Government Guide. It waa agreed to pnrahase one oopy. The Clerk's report was read and approved. Tenders were accepted for concre:o and timber culvert, Wm. Fine; for uibhinr road, B. McMeekan; for drain. Springe road, T. Campion. Tbe tenders for drain at __ndsdow»e were held over for a week. A tender for Harding'* drain was accepted conditionally. Besolved—Tbat tenders be invited for a cnlvert at lownehend's corner, Eliesmere road j that a 1-in pipe culvert bo put in at «adbrook'i crossing, and that Mr Crook's application to have a ditch cut on White's ajnd Leadfey a road he left for the Clerk to see to. accounts to tbo amount of _Sol4s 3d were passed for p»yr_ent, and the Board adjourned.
