RIFLE SHOOTING.
The first competition of the season for the North Canterbury Bifle Club's challenge cup was fired at the Bangiora range on Saturday, when over twenty members took part in the match. The Wimbledon target was used in place of the regulation target, which was used last season. The day was not very favorable, both light and wind being baffling. The change of target, no doubt, also affected the scoring. Five shots were allowed at each range, and under the Wimbledon regulations the highest possible score would be 100. Mr C. Tyler carried off the trophy with a total of 74. The ten highest scores made were as follows :—
