PROGRESS OF THE COLONY.
Aα interesting Parliamentary paper has bera prepared by the Government in oonnectkm with the Indian and Colonial Exhibition, which shows in a striking form the progress mad* by the colony since its foundation. It contains, first of all, a table showing the. total values of imports and exports, amount of Customs revenue collected, and number and tonnage of vessels entered inwards said cleared outwards from the foundation Of the colony in 1841 to 1885. inclusive. Following is the table cf imports, exports, and Customs revenue:—

- The progrors ehovn in regard to the flipping is qn>tA m remarkable. In 1811 there were 06 rendu of 21,155 tons entered invert*, aed 82 veueU '*< 17,413 tone entered owtaode. In 1851 iheae numbers had about tretled; in 1861 they bad grown wr-fold; in 1871 there entered inwards 739 tm*«]« of 874,613 tons, and outward* 709 of 265 618 tons. In 1885 thw» number* bad grown to 786 veaeela of 519.700 tone entered inwards, and 780 rebels of 513.000 tons cleared outward.
Appended to theee returos is another tible of great interest, avowing the number of Kr» stock in Hew Z?aUad for the jean 1843 to 1881. In 184S there were only 533 hones, 4065 etttte, and 10,255 *bp«p in tbe entire! colony. Iα 1 851 Vμ™ *«« 2890 horse*, 34,787 c*tt3e. and 233,013 sheep.
