NEW ZEALAND FARMERS' COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION.
The fif fch annual meeting of the New Zealand Cxjperative Association of Canterbury waa held at the Corn Exchange oh July 3rd. Mr C. Eneor, Chairman of Directors, presided. There was a good attendance. The annual report wa9 read, from which it appeared that 362 new chares have been taken up during the year, making up the total number issued to 6133, held by 1320 members. Owing to o?rtaia matters in oonnectim with the late management of the sprain and seed stores, a lose of about .£450 had to be written off; but a large increase had taken place in the operations of the Association. The mortgage of £3000 on the Caehel street premisee had been paid off, and both properties were now free irom encumbrance. Owing.to the untoward circumstances in connection with the recent management of the grain and seed departments, the amount of profit available for distribution was only .£750 4s 7d, which, with the balance brought forward, enabled .£IOO2 9a 9d to be disposed of. From this ram a dividenji; of .7 per oent. waa recommended, the. balance to be carried forward. The report also stated that the directors had accepted the sole agency in North Canterbury of Messrs Horneby and Sons' agricultural machinery. __ , ..
