SELWYN COUNTY COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Selwyn County ! Council wag held in their rooms yeetarday. There were present—Meaere MnMin m ; (Chairman), Jones, Dunlop, Bennie, Per}.' man and Weatenra. A letter was read from the Public Works Department, relative to the maintenance of White's Waimakariri bridge. It was jresolved, on the motion of Mr Dunxop, seconded by Mr Wuranu-*' " That this Council agree with the pro*' posal of the Government re White's bridge, and are trilling to take charge of same on terms proposed." The Council confirmed the resolutions passed at the special meeting held on the 9th June, making epecial orders oonitl* tuting the Bluff, Hoiorata and Ellcsmen water-race distriots. It was resolved that Mr Wilson, watav race overseer, be instructed to proceed with the survey of the extension of the existing racee in the Ellesmere district* and report on the distance the pretest supply will serve, and the probable cost of the extension. . Tenders were tpened and aooepted fw constructing two etctiona of the water-no* in the Waimakaxhi district. The tender of N. Clinton for leating for a period of seven years Beeerve No. 2678 at 6 i 7d per acre per annum waa accepted,, and that of Walter Johnston for leasing rani section No. 85642 for the came period at 5s 8d per acre. After transacting some other badness of a routine nature the Council adjourned.
