m [P—6BB ABSOCIATIOK TF—EG—A—.] HAWEBA, July 18. Inspector Pardy, with a police interpreter and a couple of constables, v_ited Werewere yesterday. From three to four hundred Native vi£iters were present at the new meeting bouse just being opened, and the feaat was about to commence when the party arrived. Titokowaru. and Te Whetu were present, and invited the party to take part in the feast. Inspector Pardy, was placed at the head of the princip—l table, with Titokowaru on his right band, and o_ier European visitors supporting him. There w—i no speech-making, but the Inspector bad a private interview with Te Whetu, who is one of Te Whiti's righthand men. Tbe result has not transpired, but certainly no -ullennesa nor ill-feeling was apparent amongst the Natives at Werewere. The feast will not conclude till to-night. The Natives are marching down towards Patea, and the police will keep on the alert until they have passed Mokoia and __nutahi.
