THE TWELFTH JULY.
The celebration of the twelfth of Jnly in Christchurch took the form of a tea> concert and ball, held at the Oddfellows' Hall, which proved a great success. About 350 people sat down to a semptuoue tea, provided by Bro. J. Gr_i_m, of Sydenham. District Master Bro. Sloan gave a short address on the benefits of the Orange Order, and thanked those who had worked Bard te mak. the affair such a success. After tea, the second part of the programme commenced, consisting of a capitally-arranged musical olio, each number of which was very creditably executed, encores being persistently insisted on, and agreeably responded to. AVthe cor elusion of the concert the National Anthem waa sung by the audience, and the room cleared for dancing. A large number of tbe audieE.ce enjoyed themselves t<ll early in the morn _g. Mr Fleming's band discoursed some capital more, and thi whole gathering was very much enjoyed. % [F—__ -(BOCIATIOK Tla —SßA— .] AUCKLAND, July 12. The anniversary of the B.ttle of the Boyne is being observed with greater eclat than usual. Ihe Grand Orange Lodge met on Saturday afternoon, and yesterday special lelisions services tcok place. This - afternoon the brethren marched in a procession, with band? of music, from Newton and _emnera, and at night a soiree and conoerc will tafe« place in *t. James Ball. WELLINGTON Jnly 18. The Battle of the Boyne was celebrated this day by the Loyal Or_jge Lodges of Wellington by a social gathering. Yesterday a special religious eervice was conducted by Bey. J. H. Elliott, who strongly denounced tiie Home Bute proposals for Ireland, and quoted from tbe works of eminent authors in euppoit of bis arguments. •
