NORTH CANTERBURY BICYCLE CLUB.

A concert in aid of the funds of this Club was held in the Literary Institute, Bangiora, last evening. To induce more riding and also to allow of good race meetings being held in the district it was lately decided to put down s> racing track round the recreation reserve. To enable the Club to do this a coneidetable sum of money was required, and a canvaee of the district having been made and well responded to, the track was commeuord, and will te finished in a week or so. To assist the f ands it was decided to give the concert last night. A most Bucoee«ful gathering was the result. Musically, the concert was a great snc&es, the performers, one and all, meeting with the approbation of the audience. The playing of Madame Summerhayes and the singing of Mies Speneley were indeed quite a treat to lovers o£music in Bangiora. 'The ? former -Splayed "two" solos, both' of which were-. YooiferGU'ly encored." Muss Bpensley sang'/ißoberto toi que j'aime," "Close to the Threshold," and: "Laddie." The other vocalist was Mr Millar, who sang "The Old Brigade " and " Jack's Yarn," and was alto encored for bot-b. The instrumentalists, besidesMad*me Summeihayes, were Messrs B. and C. Wood, Spensley, and Heap.
