POLITICAL INTELLIGENCE.
[BT TXL-WBAFH.] fIBOX OTJB COBBBSPOJTDai-T.] 1 WELLINGTON, September 23^' The Hon. Mr Lamach is now obliged to place himself under the doctor's hands, and abstain altogether from work for a time. The Premier will probably leave for Dunedin about the end of tiie week on private business. He is said to be very desirous of freeing himself from Ministerial shackles, if this should prove practicable, in order that he may devote his time to his profession, which is a much more profitable occupation. The difficulty consists, however, in the fact that his retirement would necessarily break up the Government, and it is by no means certain that any new Ministry would be formed in accordance with the wishes of the present one. Mr Stout made an excellent speech to-night at the great tern urging the importance of a sense of individual responsibility without which no organised effort would be entirely successful. It is still reported that Mr Buckley will shortly retire from the Ministry and go Home, and recent events have given further color to this rumor.
