LOWER HEATHCOTE RACES.
The weather was fine, and the attendance larger than usual. The caid waa well filled, and good fields were the order of the day, but excepting in the Pony Bace, there were no close finishes. In that event Shuffle the Brogue would probably have won hod not his rider let his head go. The following are the details :-— Hack Hurdle Bace, of 15 bovb *. for horses that have not won _E'_o in one event; llßtup. Mr K. Moffatt's br g Blue Gum- 5-yrs-(Murfit} 1 Mr P. Butler's g g Silver King, 5 yrs (Pearson) 2 Mr Mitchell's b m Nelly, aged (Crooks) 3 J?resto, Topsy, Grey hagle, Pantaloon, Nutwith, and Adventurer also ran. Presto was the favorite. Blue Gum and Nelly were prominent in the van for a mile end a half, when the former took a decided lead, and here Presto, ridden hard by Sheenan, ran up to the leader, but he hit the last hurdle hard and fell. Blue Gum then sailed along three length. ahead of Nelly, but Silver King coming fast at the finish deprived the mare or second honors. Totalisator —138-32— £3 17 a. Pony ob Galloway Back,, of 15 soys; weight for inches. six furlonga. Mr Pilbrow's Pierrot, 2yrs, 9at (Owner) 1 Mr Judge's Shuffle the Brogue, 3yrs> Set (Butler) 2 Mr Wade's Sir Julius, 2yrs, 9st 7lb (Mitchell) 3 Victorine, Bodger, Springlonda, Sophia, and Jumps also ran. Pierrot and Sir Julius were the favorites. Pierrot and air Julius held a decided lead ot their field for half-a-mile, when Shuffle the Brogue ran up to the leaders, and Sir Julius shut up like a knife. A good race ensued down tbe straight between Pierrot and Shuffl. the Brogue, ending in a short head victory for the former. Sin- Julius a bad third, the others outpaced. Totalisator —160-49— £2 18 a. Master Agnes, Puck, and Chandoa were scratched. Conundrum and Bally were most fancied. Conundrum and Bally cut out the work, with Baldie well up. At the back of tae course Conundrum held a length's lead of Bally, and tiie whip waa Bocn at work on the latter, but he could not reach Conundrum, who won in a canter, 'lime, lmin. £Baecß.
