HOSPITAL INQUIRY.
TO THB -OITOB OF THB PBSSS. Sni,—l can see no object in Mr Henry Thomson publishing Dr. BakewelTs letter in your paper of this morning, unless it is to show that Dr. Prins and Dr. Bakeweß are at variance with regard to a matter of fact. Dr. Prins said he never used the word "Courage." Dr. BakeweU says he did. They both agree that Dr. Nedwill was asked to apologise and retire. Dr. Prins was sitting in this case as a judge, and when he sent a message to Dr. Nedwill to ask him to apologise and retire, I don't wonder at Dr. Nedwill looking at it as an act of intimidation. After hearing the evidence, does Dr. Prins still t*™u~r that Dr. Nedwill should have apologised P The public have evidently made up their minds that there must be a Boyal Commission, but, Sir, Boyal Commissions are expensive luxuries, and I think the suggestion of the Mayor of Christchurch would satisfy them just as well, viz., " That the Government be applied to to abolish both the Board and staff, and to take steps to appoint their successors." Or, better stall, the Board might quietly resign. Yours, _c., A Loveb ot Peaob. Christchurch, February 13th, 1885.
