LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The nsual meeting was held on Monday. Present—-His Worship the Mayor and Ore. Macdonald, Stdnson, Seed, T. McDonald, Fyfe, Dimond, Merson. The receipts were .£124 Is Bd. On the motion of Cr. Stinson, seconded by Cr. Dqiond, it was reselved, in answer to letters from the member (Mr Harry Allwright) and from the Colonial Secretary, to leave it with the Mayor to get a map and survey made of all the reclaimed land which is not already proclaimed part of the borough. Mr JE\ D. Gibson resigned the position of "Returning Officer, and a special meeting was called for the 6th proximo to appoint his successor. The Salvation Army applied for the use of the Coloniste' Hall for meet-, ings on certain days .of the week. Crs. Stinson and Dimond thought the letter should be laid on the table. On motion of Cr. Mkkson, seconded by Cr. Bkkd, it was resolved to-let the hall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at .£l5O per annum. Crs. Stinbon and Macdonald moved that it be JE2OO, and to be not later than 9 p.m. on Sundays. Upon a division I Crs. Stinson, Macdonald, Fyfe and Dimond voted for the amendment, and Cra. Beed, T. MoDonald, Merson and the Mayor against. The Mayor gave a casting vote, and the amendment was declared lost. The resolution was then put and carried. Be the matter of Garforth and Lee's transfer of license for slaughterhouse, the same was granted, the Mayor having consulted tiie borough solicitor. The Foreman of Works was empowered to deal with an application from Mr P. Fox. On the motion of Crs. Macdonald and Fyfe, it was resolved to asphalt the footpath in front of the Oddfellows' Hall, Cra. Bebd and T. McDonald voting that it be not done until the DampierV Bay footpath be completed. Accounts for £3,27 11s were passed. On the motion of Crs. Stinson and Beed, the planting of Sandy Bay with trees was left with the Mayor and Foreman of Works, subject to the approval of the Harbor Board. Be Mr Lazarus' lease of the Victorian dining-rooms, which falls in shortly, it was left with the Estates Committee. On motion of Cr. Stinson, seconded by Cr. Dimond—" The Clerk was instructed to write to the Charitable Aid Board, asking that the fence in front of the casual ward be returned to the proper boundary line." A nuisance in Joycetown was, on motion of Cγ. Beid, left with the Works Committee. Be purchaselpf Mr Watson's land, 18ft wide from Stunner road to the Council reserve, it was agreed that the necessary deeds be drawn up. Cr. McDonaxd asked about the uniforms to the Fire Brigade, and was informed that the Secretary of that body had been written to on the subject. After some further routine business the Council adjourned. j
