Earl Qranville, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, speaking in the House of Lords last night, on the proposed Egyptian Conference, said that negotiations wero now proceeding between the British and French. Governments on the subject matters for discussion at the Conference. When these negotiations had terminated, the results arrived at would be submitted to Parliament for approval before being notified. Mr Fisher is about to issue a prospectus of his Northern Territory Land Company. Among the directors are the Duke of Manchester and Lord Lytton. The proposal to float the Adelaide iCopper Company in London has been postfooned for the present. [ M. Counneaux|has returned to France [from hie special mission to the Australasian Colonies and New Caledonia, and his ■Seport on the subject of his mission has neen forwarded to the French Premier. The French papers, commenting on this repert, state that it will probably lead either to the postponement or the modification ef the Becidiviste Bill. June 12. Arrangements for the approaching Conference on Egyptian affaire are rapidly approaching completion. It is reported that the British Government will withdraw their troops from Egypt at an early date if the Great Powers represented at the Conference are unanimous in a request to that effect. The Imperial Treasury are opposing the application made by the Bank of South Australia for the extension of its present charter. The ground of opposition is that the application includes a clause which limits the liability of the shareholders in agagard to note issue. ™ June 14. June 17. In the Houue of Commons last night, Mr Bedmond asked a question with reference to the verdicts in several recent kidnapj ping trials in Queensland. The Hon. Evelyn Ashley, the Political Secretary of the Celonial office, replied. Hβ stated that the verdicts were of a surprising character, but that it was impossible for ta£ Imperial authorities to interfere.
