LITTLE RIVER.
The R---ftl treat, sports, and distribution of prizes to the children attending the Little River District School took place on Thursday last, the 27th instant. At noon the children and their friends mustered in force on the cricket ground, where the usual sports came off and good prizes given. An adjournment was then made to the schoolroom, when the cMldren sat down and thoroughly enjoyed tea, kindly provided for them by the Committee. After tea the distribution of prizes took place, Mr H. E. Tyson being the Chairman, and, after a few brief remarks, the Master, Mr A. Proudlock, read. Mr T. H. Giles' report of hie examination, and then distributed the prizes. The foUowing is the prize list :— Infants—Class I—T. Holt 1, EUen PrindivUle 2, A. Smith 3, W. Belcher 4, Ada Smith 5, Hannah Jones 6. - Class 2—Lucy Watkins 1, Amy Coop and H. Joblin 2, G. H. Johnstone 3. Class 3—J. Belcher 1, F. Christison 1, F. Belcher and Bridget Watkhtß 2, Charles Tyson 3, Edward Smith 4. Class 4—Henry Smith 1, Florance Radford 2, Edward Fitton 3, Thomas Prindiville 4, Sherrock and J. Archer 5, Catherine Eadford 6. Standard I.—George Coop 1, Susan Smith 2, Elizabeth Holt 3, Jessie Fitton 4, R. Mclntyre 5, Maurice Smith 6. Standard ll.—Edward Coop 1, Elizabeth Fitton 2, Charles Jones 3. Standard JH.— Alice Tysen 1, Minnie Greenland 2. Standard IV.—Charles Chapman 1. Attendance —Bertie Harris 1, Susan Smith and Elizabeth Holt 2, Eva Reynolds 3. Sewing prizes, lstclass—Alice Tyson 1, E. Fitton 2; 2nd class—Eva Reynolds 1; 3rd class— Susan Smith 1. A special prize for knitting was awarded to Jane Thompson. The toys on the Christmas tree were then distributed. After this the schoolroom waa cleared and dancing commenced and carried on until an early hour in the morning.
