PRODUCE MARKETS.
' The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Limited, report on the produce markets for the week ending December - 28th, as follows: — Wool.—Some inquiry between sales leads to the belief that the next auctions will pass off with spirit. Wool is now arriving into store freely, and large catalogues will no doubt be submitted at the next series on 9th January. We observe that the arrivals lor the February sales in London iareex- - pected to reach 400,000 bales. This is an unusually heavy supply bo early in the year, and it will be interesting to note its effect on the market. . , _ ' Sheepakina—The quantity forward for Thursday's sales was the most meagre for many months past. It was, however, sufficient to satisfy the wants of the few buyers who assembled to compete for tho several lots, and for vendors it waa fortunate consignments were not more bulky, as prices showed a decided turn downwards. At our sale butchers' pelts made 7d to Is Id; lambskins, 8d to Is 2d; country skins up to 4» Bd. ..-"■. Tallow and Fat—Supplies were on a most limited scale, and prices were scarcely, so goodas latterly; 21rJ was the highest price aeeßXsd by us for good butch en r fat. -tides—So few came to hand that buyers did not present themselves; all forward are consequently held over. Grain—ln this market there is nothing whatever to report. Business is restricted to the quittance of a few parcels of nulling wheat, for which full rates are obtainable. Dairy Produce—Neither cheese nor butter have had any business, but we hear of several parcels in preparation for shipment by steamer to Lendon.
