RANGIORA.

A meeting of this Council was held at noon on Wednesday. Present—The Mayor, Mr John Johnston, Ors. Burt, Orothers, and Good. Mr Johnston, the Mayor elect, having signed the declaration required on entering a term of office, briefly thanked the burgesses for the confidence expressed towards him in electing him to the position again. He assured the Council of bis desire to promote tbe welfare of the borough, and trusted that tbe unanimity which bad characterised the Council's proceedings in the past year would continue throughout the year now ourrent, and concluded by wishing them the compliments of the approaching season. The proceedings then terminated.
