[BETnrEB/8 TEI.BQRAMB.I MELBOURNE, December 19. The cricket match between the English team and an eleven of Victoria was resumed to-day. The weather waa again showery during the day, and the wicket was very dead. Play was frequently interrupted during the day, and when the stumps were drawn the Englishmen, who had continued their second innings, had put together 162 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Barlow was caught for 42, Selby was caught for 32, and Shewsby was not out for 62. The dispute between Professors Elkington and Manson, in regard to the fracas which recently occurred at the University Board meeting, has now been amicably settled, and the threatened action has been withdrawn. SYDNEY, December 19. Arrived, this morning, Pacific Company's steamship City of New York, from Auckland. A storm of unusual violence, accompanied by heavy rain with thunder and lightning, was experienced here to-day. I No damage, however, has been done to the buildings in the city. A destructive fire has occurred at Newcastle. The losses are covered by insurance in the various Australian offices. Arrived, yesterday afternoon —Steamship Wakatipu, from Wellington. Two fresh cases of smallpox in Woolloomoolloo have been reported to the Health Board. BRISBANE, December 19. A trolly, in which two labourers were , asleep, was run into by a train near ' Dalby, and both men were killed.
