[eetjtes's telegeams.] LONDON, November 23. Console, 100j. New Zealand securities :—Five per Cent. 10.40 Loan, 104; Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 104; Four and a Half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, 100$. Australian and New Zealand breadstuff and Australian tallow are without quotable change. At the wool sales to-day the catalogue comprised 9800 bales. An animated demand was again experienced for the various lots offered. Earl Cowper, Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, made a speech to-day at Belfast, in which he took occasion to thank the landlords of Ireland for rallying to support the law. He added that he feared the discontent and ill-feelings of tenants were deep seated. NATAL, November 23. The appointment of Mr W. J. Sendall, one of the assistant-secretaries of the English Local Government Board, to the Lieutenant-Governorship of this colony, in succession to Sir Evelyn Wood, is viewed with much disfavor throughout Natal; and the Legislative Council, at its sitting to-day, voted six inutead of the usual twelve months , supplies as a protest against Mr Sendall's appointment. WASHINGTON, November 23. The trial of Guiteau for the murder, of President Garfield continues. Witnesses being called for the defence are seeking to justify their belief in prisoner's insanity.
