GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

DuarNQ the week a considerable amount of business has been transacted in the grain market. Wheat continues in active demand, and late prices are maintained. For really prime milling and seed samples 3s 5d and 3s 6d respectively is obtained. Good average quality wheat commands 3s 4d. There is a good market for inferior samples for chicken food, but tbe supply is altogether unequal to the demand. Oats continue depressed. We have heard of very few sales during the week, as farmers prefer holding to accepting rates offered by buyers. Buyers offer 2s 5d for feed and 2s 7d for milling, but farmers generally expect at least two pence per bushel more than the respective quotations. Barley continues in good demand, although there ia not so much eagerness shown by buyers as there was some little time ago. Prime samples are readily saleable at 5s 6d, and other qualities at rates corresponding with the quality. Iv flour a very fair business is reported by the millers. Quota-ions are unaltered at -28 to £8 sb, according to brand. Bran and sharps are in less request, and are quoted at £i and £1 10s respectively. Grass seed still hangs heavily, and no improvement can be noted. Potatoes are selling freely at 50s. The rain in the early part of the week Btopped deliveries for a few days. Butter was offering more freely during the week, and some sales are reported at 9d. Cheese is in moderate demand at 7Jd. Hams and bacon are out of stock and quotations nominally Bd.
