After one break away the horses were despatched to a fair start, Moonlight cutting out the running, followed by Electricity, Warlock, Cowarie, and Device, the rest in a cluster. Coming up the straight and past the stand for the first time, Moonlight led by a

At the mile post .Moonlight had ii:cr.s«d hu lead by two or three lengths, his opponents being lelljbogether, excepting GVburn. Electricity and .Device were here- struggling"-for second place, with Warlock inside. At tbe three-quarter mfle Banter began to come up, followed closely by Jarto, Deeice, Timothy, and Warlock. Electricity at this point fell back, while Viceroy and Or>wurie followed Glenburn'a example, and dropped out of the running. Bantor soon passed Moonlight, who : very gamely disputed every inoh of ground, and the chesnut was obliged to give way successively to Jarto, Timothy, and Davice. For some distance jarto struggle 1 hard with Banter for the lead, Timothy also <*h_n«igipg both, and _>evice being a respectable fourth. Banter, however, was seen ta have a clear lead entering the straight, and the result appeared clear, as he passed the winning post leading by six lenpths, Jarto second, Timothy third, Warlock, Device, Moor light, Electricity, Cowarie, Gleiibura, and Viceroy finishing in the order named.
