Messrs Clifford and Co. report on their usual weekly sele, Saturday, 7th Sept., as follows.-— Cattle, springers end cows in profit, £10 to £12: jottdr , calves, 5s to Bs. Poultry—The pens were well filled, and Of rood quality ; the attendance of bojrerslarge: "Fowls, 3s 6d to 5s 3d per pair ; ducks, 6s per pair; turkeys. 10s to lJsperpair: geese, 9a to Us. jer ,s*&r. Pies—Small stores, 6s to 7* 6d; medium, 10s to 12r; porkers, 18s to 255. Messrs 'Jonas, Hart, and Wildie report; on the Timaru market for the -week ending September 7th, as follows .—Fat Cattle—Th« market still costumes to: be well supplied, and rates seem to be tending' anwuda. Then , transactions for the week are—3s )M*a,attro&t£9lseto£ll 10s, being eqnal to £32 6d per 1001b. Milch Cows—They have sold a large number daring the week, both privately and hj auction, at prices ranging from £7 10s to £18. Store cattle are in fair demand, and in anticipation of .spring feed, buyers are pretty keen. They quote barters and steers, eighteen months to two-veare, £« to £7 fa 6d: twelve months to eighteen months, £3 5* to £t 15s. Skins, Hides, and Fat—Their mrular'f&le on the 29th inst., was well attended by the usMl trade buyers* 2000 skins, 40 hides, and a qtuntity of fat were catalogned. The following prices were obtained:—Cross-breds, nearly fullwooiied. 5e 6d. Sa Sd. 6s Id; ligbt-woolled do, 2s Gd to 5s 3d; merino do, 2s 6d to 5s 23; hides, 20s each, eqnu io W per lb. Horses—Their sales today were remarkably well attended with buyers. There were fifteen head of all kinds entered, allot which were gold at prices according to the following : —Heary drasght mares and geldings, from £60 to £78 - r mediam flo. £48 to £59; light do, £29 to £43; h»ek» and light harness horses, £3 15s to *30.
