The Chairman said he had received a letter from Mr lance in reply to one from the committee, consenting to act aa handicapper. He also announced that he had received several tenders for forming and preparing the coarse, which he would read to the committee.

It was ultimately resolved to accept the tender of Wm. Dalziel for £18 12s, being the lowest, conditionally on the course being formed tbe fall width, the stones to be called three times, the ground to be once ploughed and five times harrowed.

Mr Coleman said the Road Board would receive £150 for recreation ground purposes, and no doubt some of that could be applied. A subscription list was then produced, from whioh it was shown that nearly £100 waa promised, but the chairman said he had no donbt that considerably more would be subscribed, as two more lists were out —Mr Williams and another gentleman, neither of whom were present, having charge of them. Mr McNaught proposed—" That the secretary be requested to write to Mr Digby, a«khim to appoint a day, some time about the end of November or beginning of December for the first race meeting.' . Seconded by Mr Coleman. A member of the committee here suggested that it might interfere with the work in the district just then. Mr Tieinor said it would be very difficult to select a time when nobody was at work. The motion was carried.

The following gentlemen were proposed as stewards:—Mr Courage (judge), Mr King (starter), Mr Lance (handicapper), Mr Alex. McDonald (clerk of scales), Messrs J. Innes, Dennis, Reginald Poeter, O. J. Harper, T. Douglas, Ticknor, Coleman, Fendall, Bnsor, Rankin, Williams, Long (clerk of course), Benn (treasurer), and Ferrar (hon. sec). It was then arranged to adjourn till that day week, when Mr Digby'e answer and also the replies from the gentlemen proposed as stewards will be considered.
