DREADFUL COLLIERY EXPLOSION.
THE FRENCH ELECTIONS. THE INDIAN FAMINE ABATING. [HBUXBB'S BPKCIAII TBIBGBAM.] London, October 15. A dreadful colliery explosion has occurred at Wigan. Forty pereone were killed. President McMahon has issned another manifesto urging the electors to rote for the Ministerial candidates. There is great exeitemont. A Berlin press writer telegraphs to the "Daily News" that the clerical riotory in France will be answered by a formal affijuic* between Germany and Italy. The Marquis of Saliebnry stated at Bradford that the result of the war had been to dispel the illusions with regard to Euaeiaat an aggressive power. Hβ caw no prospect of The Indian famine has passed through it» worst stage. _ October 18. The French elections are completed. Ih* returns, exclusive of the colonies, shew three hundred and fourteen for [Republican and two hundred and one for Conservative Government, a gain of forty-three.
