A column uuder General Dazaraff outflanked the Turks, and General Heimema attacked and carried Mount Aroliee, cutting Mukhtar Paeha'e army in two. Mukhtar retreated towarde Kara, but was pursued and routed, losing an enormous number in killed md wounded, and thousands of prisoners, including seven Paehae. Three Turkish divisions were surrounded, and surrendered, with thirtj-two guns and immense quantities of war material. The Russian losses were not large. Chefket Paaha defeated a number of foragers. A Russian official despatch states that Mnkhtar Pacha attacked the Kuseian positions at Yahgnie and was repulsed after severe fighting. 5 October 16. ATiuesian official despatch eaye that Gourka had a complete victory over Mukhtar Pacha at Aladazadagh. He took many prisoners and guns. A Turkish official despatch states that a great bottle took place on the 11th, and that the Russiane retreated. A Russian official despatch states that the Russians captured the height* of Arlock, compelling the defenders to retreat upon Kars. They then attacked Mukhtar Pasha, and carried Mount Arolias, cutting the Turkish army in two when retreating. The Turks were defeated with enormous loss. The other part of Mukhtar'e army was surrounded, and surrendered with the lose of seven pish&e, thirty-two gune, and an immense quantity of material. Mukhtar fled from Kars. October 17. Mukhtar for the most part confirm* the report. He lost eight hundred men, one and a half regiment. The Ruesian cavalry and four battalions of infantry were completely destroyed. The bridge at Nicopolw was carried awaj by a rising in the Danube. [SPECIAL TBIEQBAH TO THK DT7NEDIN BTAIIJ ' liOHDOK, October 18. Mukhtar Pasha fled from before Kara, leaving nineteen thousand prisoners and twenty-seven gune; seventeen thousand lolled and wounded.
