SOUTH RAKAIA.
A meeting of the South Rakaia Road Board was held on Thursday, June 3rd, at the Road Board office. All the members were present with the exception of Mr C. N. Mackie. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, after which the usual monthly report was considered. Resolved—"That the contractor for the Rakaia and Mount Hutt road be paid nothing further until the stones are broken throughout the entire contract." Re upper portion of Rakaia and Mount Hutt road, it was resolved—"That the work be done a 8 per report ; also that the culvertß as recommended be put in." Re application of Mr Robinson for footpath, resolved—"That the same be granted. Re fencing in cottage reserve, it was agreed to call for tenders for fencing and for closets. Re plantation, resolved that the required repairs be done at once. Resolved, that plans and specifications be prepared, and tenders called for next meeting, for the following works :— Alford Forest road, forming and metalling about one mile and sixty chains, and also a portion of Mackie's boundary road. Resolved, that the chairman let the formation of about forty chains of Ashburton road at once. Resolved, that the blue gum and totara timber required be procured from Christchurch at once. Tenders were then opened and accepted for the following works :—Cuttings, Ashburton branch road and Mackie's boundary road. Accounts amounting to £1070 8s 6d were passed, and the Board adjourned to Thursday, the Ist of July.
