ROAD BOARDS.
BICCARTON.
The adjourned ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Wednesday, at the office, Cashel street west. Present—Messrs Hall (chairman), Nun week, Gregg, and Patterson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The chairman congratulated the Board on the satisfactory settlement of the reserve question; the committee appointed by the late Government having reported that the bills proposing to exchange the said reserve and the road leading thereto should be withdrawn. It waa resolved— " That the thanks of the Board are due to those members representing the district in the Provincial Council by whose exertions the reserve question has been settled so satisfactorily." A letter was read from the Secretary for Publio Wotks advising that the balance of the grant due to the district was available. A letter was read from Mr Ruddenklau calling the attention of the Board to the bad state of the road through section No 9, between the Lincoln road and the railway line. The surveyor stated that be had made inquiries, and found the road referred to by Mr Ruddenklau was on private property. The Board resolved to form and metal this road on receipt of one-half the cost, and on it being dedicated to the Superintendent. A letter was read from the City Council in reference to a drainage Bcheme for the city and suburbs, and inviting the attendance of the chairman at a meeting to be held on the 10th instant, to consider the matter. The Board considered that a suburban drainage scheme was necessary, and the chairman was requested to attend the meeting and protest against any portion of the district being placed under the control of the City Council for drainage purposes. The clerk handed in the rate list for the current year, which was approved by the Board and signed by tbe chairman, and the rate therein ordered to be made and levied. The surveyor was directed to repair Frost's road with gravel, and to engage an extra horse and cart for the maintenance of the main roads ; also to have the ruts raked in on the Millrace road, and to put battens between the planking of the Fendaltown bridge. Tbe surveyor was directed to take the levels between Frost's road and the Middleton road with a view to drainage, and to write to the occupiers of the land between the said roads, pointing out tbe scheme proposed by the Board. The surveyor's report was read and approved, and, after passing accounts for work done, the Board adjoured.
