ENGLISH COMMERCIAL.

Messrs Miles Brothers and Co. report on March 19th as follows :— WOOL. tit nnirai™ prevailed in the wool trade at the date of our la<t advices has since increased. an:l the fall which took pliice at the opening has been fully recovered on most descriptions, with good competition. New South Wales and Queensland wools have not perhaps equally participated in the rise in other sorts. Good greasy wool is very firm, but the short kinds of extra fine Port Philip fleece being in rather supply, prices for these descriptions have given way during the last week. The sales will close on the 25th instant, and the next series has been iixed for the 4th May, the arrivals for which an , about H6,n00 bales. V'HtAT AND FL.OUU. Prices of wheat have improved Is per quarter during the last lew days in consequence of supplies on the way being , still kept off by contrary winds, but we cannot look for any further rise when the bulk of the shipments arrive. With rega-d to the future much will depend upon our coining crops, for adverse weather would be certain to send prices up, if, on the other hand, it should continue as favorable as it is at present, the well-to-do farmers who hold large stocks of unthrashed wheat may be induced to realise, whereby a considerable quantity would be thrown on the market; but we do not, however, anticipate any further serious decline, ac we think prices have nearly touched their lowest limit New Zealand wheat may be quoted as follows —Fine, 47s 'to 4Ss per 4801bs; good, 45s to. 465. Flour is in limited demand. TALLOW AND HIDES. ' The tallow market remains without alteration ; the demand for Australian still continues very moderate, and prices for New Zealand are about the same, viz, 40s to 4isforgrood to fine mutton, and 39s to 40s for fair to fine beef. Hides are in limited request, and prices tend downwards, the present quotations being, for New Zealand good, 6|d to frfcd, and ordinary 6d to 6£d per lb. NEW ZEALAND HEMP. The present low prices have caused a slight improvement in the demand for this article lately, and rather more business has been done, without, however, any improvement in rates. PRESERVED TINNED MEATB. The market is very dull now for mutton, and there are scarcely any inquiries except at very low rates. Beef and 2's mutton are still in demand.
