LYTTELTON REGATTA.

A meeting of the committee took place in the Colonists' Committee room, on Wednesday evening. The Commodore, Mr P. Cunningham occupied the chair, and there was a numerous attendance of members present. The minutes of the former meeting were read by the secretary and confirmed. The various collectors present handed in the amounts of subscriptions promised. On the motion of Mr Packard, seconded by Mr Ali/WRIGHT, it was resolved—" That the amount of prizes as recommended by the sub-committee be advertised in the " Press " and " Lyttelton Times." Somediscnssion ensued withjrespect to a SeuU ler's race, Cap'ain McLellan moved, Mr Hall , seconded, and it was resolved —"That a : Sculler's race, in watermen's boats be added ; to the programme." Captain McLellax brought forward the > subject of vessels competing in the sailing ; race of 150 tons and under. He thought l that the competition should be confined to i vessels belonging to owners in Canterbury. I He moved that the race be restricted to vessels owned by persons in Canterbury, i Mr Bich seconded the motion. After some discussion, the motion was put 3 and lost. Mr EICH spoke on the subject of clubs L entering gigs, and considered that it was not for clubs to name their boat. He moved a 5 resolution, that clubs entering their gigs be i not required to name the boat they enter. Hr Hall seconded the resolution, i After a warm discussion, the motion was put and lost. i The rules as printed last year were gone 1 through and passed without alteration. Colonists' Hall, the secretary and treasurer being empowered to receive the entries on that evening.

The following officers were appointed— To lay out courses—Messrs Cunningham, Norris, Kiddey, Rich, and Stout. JudgesMessrs Montgomery, Aynsley, Herdson. Crosbie, D Davis. Starters—Messrs Nalder, MClatchie. Time Keeper—H. P. M. Aynsley, Ksq. Stewards—His Honor the Superintendent, Messrs Kennaway, Peacock. Turner, Marshman, Saunders, Craig, Cobb, Palmer, Laurie, Anderson, Incjlis, Reeves, Hennah, W. D. Wood, A. C. Wilson, Coster, Milton, Connor, McKay, Hesketh. Herdson, W. Day, B. A. Hargreaves, M. B. Hart. Lansdown, Sawtell, Stoddart, Hawtrey, C. Cuff, R. D. Thomas, Mayors of Christchurch and Kaiapoi, G. L. Beatb, Talbot, Duncan, and Lewis. It was resolved that application be made to the Government and the LytteHon Borough Council for the use of the reclaimed land, and that all hawkers be charged os, and refreshment stalls 10s each. It was resolved that a special meeting of the committee be held on Monday evening, December 30, at half-past eight o'clock.
