THANKSGIVING DAY.

May 9, 1872. The following has been handed to us for publication : — Hope of the realm, old England's Princely Pride ! Since the dim hand hath clutched at thy career, Since our deep love was fathomed by our fear, Britain, where freedom, faith and peace abide, Aid of thy manhood's worth now craves at length. Strange sickness — 'stablishing the Throne : the mean Malignant cursers of our stainless Queen Foiled by that feebleness more strong than strength, Have skulked to darkess—providential bar To baleful march of Order's godless foes And Revolutions sanguinary car. The nation, warned by neighbouring flames and woes, Clings to the Crown, and—wisdom from thy throes Fresh gained—awaits expectantly thy rising Star.
