A MEMORIAL having been presented to the Board of Education from a con* siderable portion of the inhabitants of the New Brighton District (as hereinafter described), stating that no provision has been made for Public School Education in the said district, and praying for the erection of such district into a separate Educational District, I hereby give notice, in accordance with the provisions of The Education Ordinance, 18G4, that a PUBLIC MEETING ofthe Owners and Occupiers of Land, and Household Residents in the said district will be held on WEDNESDAY, the sth day of APRIL, 1871, at 7.30 p.m., at Mr HAMILTONS' HOUSE, New Brighton, for the purpose of ascertaining whether such Owners, Occupiers of Land and Householders are willing that the said district should be formed into au Educational District ; also, for ascertaining whether such Owners. Occupiers, and Householders are willing to provide the proportion of the annual expenses of an Educational District, to be paid by such district, as provided by The Educational Ordinance, 18(i4. The following is the description of the proposed district : — Commencing at a point where the creek, forming the western boundary of section 184 A, runs into the River Avon ; thence northwesterly up the said creek to the Canal reserve ; thence northerly along the Canal reserve to the road to the north of section 1705 ; thence easterly aloDgthis latter road, and along the roads to the south of sections 5074 and 5625 respectively, to the Sandy beach ; thence southerly along the beach, to a point due east of the eastern-most comer of section 7i)3'J ; thence South-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of this section, aud north-westerly along its southI western boundary, and the southwestern boundaries of sections 4634 and 9477 to the western corner of the latter section ; thence in a straight line to the southern most comer of section 2808 ; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of this section, and a line in continuation thereof to the River Avon, and thence following up the River Avon to the starting point.
